Round 4 – Alonso

April 29th, 2005 by Anthony

Alonso.jpgIn the most exciting race of the year Alonso makes it three in a row with a strong win in San Marino moving his drivers’ standings to 36, double that of Trulli’s coming second but it’s still early days.

It was down to the wire thanks to Ferrari moving 10 places in one pit stop forcing Alonso to drive under pressure with 12 laps to go to hold off the world champ Michael Shumacher in his red hot Ferrari breathing down his neck to the last minute.

Once again Webber qualified in a strong position on the grid (4th) but failed to perform throughout the race finishing out of the points in 10th place.

Really looking forward to Barcelona, on the 8th May, to see if Ferrari can duplicate there almost unbelievable performance in this round.

iPod Shuffle

April 15th, 2005 by Anthony

iPod Shuffle.jpgThe iPod Shuffle, anybody who knows what it is already knows exactly what it’s capable of doing and there’s not really a whole lot of guesswork to be made about its quality. It’s basically a one-trick pony (English saying I picked up), it’s going to be hit-or-miss for just about everyone. Some people will love it for its price and simplicity while others will hate it because it doesn’t exactly offer many options (or a screen)

Obviously, the iPod shuffle is a very simple device. Its entire purpose is to play whatever tunes it stores in random order. It currently comes in two models, a 512MB for $149 and a 1GB version for $299. I can help but wonder why they made these models but you can probably assume that there will be a 2GB or 4GB version somewhere down the line, can anyone confirm this?

The main reason for me to choose an iPod shuffle is there’s no internal hard drive of any sort. This makes the device very small and very light. As well, it means that there’s no skipping of songs making it great for when I’m running home from work across the Harbour Bridge most afternoons.

My research has found there are a few downsides; the battery life of 12hours is pathetic, slow transfer speeds, no FM tuner or an LCD screen but what do you expect for the price!
