Go wireless

AirPort Express is a wireless product from Apple that allows you to connect multiple users to your Internet connection. Featuring AirTunes for playing your iTunes music wirelessly on your home stereo or powered speakers. SO you can hook up your internet, music and printing all wirelessly. And it’s available for Mac and Window PC users.

If you have a wireless network in place, AirTunes can be used to add music to its capabilities. For example, if you have AirPort Extreme set up in your study there’s no need to scrap this setup and create a whole new one with an AirPort Express Base Station, your Unwired modem, printer and stereo all in one place. Simply connect AirPort Express to your stereo in say your lounge room and plug it into an electrical outlet, it’ll then wirelessly link to your existing network, letting you play your music in your room of choice without moving anything or connecting anything else. Gold!

Bathroom Baby

bathroom-baby.jpgWithin four or so months of completing my bathroom renovation, I woke up Saturday morning to find the ceiling looking like a woman’s pregnant belly, about 7months pregnant to be precise.

After a thorough investigation, pushing it slightly with my finger, I was on the phone quick smart to my strata managers. With their office not open on Saturdays and there emergency plumbing number switched off, I phoned may mate Julian (works for a Real Estate agent in my area. cheers mate!) for his plumbing contact, their phone was on and a plumber was at my place within four hours.

The plumber decided to cut a small incision into the main section of the bulge, which released about 4 litres of water in quick fashion into my bathtub. After all the water was released we decided to cut a larger hole to find the source of the problem. We discovered I have a false ceiling and the reason for this is because the original ceiling has exactly the same size hole in it from, I can only assume, exactly the same problem. When this problem occurred last time they cut through the re-enforced concrete to access the plumbing from the above unit, so I can now see my neighbours bathtub and plumbing.

The source of the leak could not be clearly identified but the immediate problem was now fixed. I decided not to allow the plumber to continue until I had approval from strata management, some use preferred plumbers.

After speaking with my strata managers today, they have approved the original plumber to complete the repair and confirmed all costs associated will be charged to the Owners Corp. (maybe subject to an insurance claim).Repairs to the plumbing & ceiling (feels like soggy cardboard) has been booked for tomorrow and quite possibly the following day.

Home Urinal

shellurinal.jpgEver dreamt of installing a urinal at home but were not quite happy with the current basic white urinals on offer?

Well wake up and make that dream a reality today, Clark Sorensen has a variety of designs & sizes on offer to suit all tastes and renovation requirements.

My favourite is this Brown Spiral Sheel Urinal design pictured here which could work very well in my bathroom due to my choice of tile colours and my proximity to the sea. Would make an excellent feature in any beach house, not sure it would add value but definately a talking point that may result in more rentals over those summer months.
