Domain name sells for US$9.5M

Anthonypannell.com may be worth a million or two but porn.com just sold for US$9.5M. Although a huge amount it’s not the highest ever, that goes to sex.com which sold for US$12M. If only I was quick enough to register these names!

The new owners of porn.com, MXN Ltd, released a statement on it’s website

“The possibilities with Porn.com are limitless, to rush its development just to get something brand new ‘live’ would be foolish. We will carefully evaluate our options before we decide the direction we wish to take it.”

I wonder what direction they’ll take, mmmmm!

New Mobile Phone

n73.jpgI’ve had my new Nokia N73 for about a week now. The phone visually and functions wise is a dream. The camera is brilliant, the standard 128MB miniSD card storage is great (I may splurged and get a 2 gig). The multimedia player(s) are brilliant. The screen is fantastic, I’ve seen iPod’s with the same resolutions. As an MP3 player this can absolutely compete with an iPod (unfortunately MiniSD Cards do not come any bigger than 2 gig, yet!). Picture quality is as good as my digital camera. When the alarm goes off in the morning the dual stereo speakers really tell you it’s time to get up, I think my neighbours use it too!

A few not so good points.

No Wi-Fi and runs slowly when switching between applications or performing multimedia functions. On numerous occassions the phone would shut down (turn off) on me, either while I was on the phone or when on standby mode. This resulted in me having the phone replaced today and so far it’s working perfectly.

I’m sure there are many other little features to be discovered but so far this is a fantastic little phone.

Pentax Optio S4

I’ve had my current camera, a Pentax Optio S4, for about two years now. It’s compact, light and has many other features that have satisfied my pictorial needs to date but I’m after something with a little more juice.

Similar to my co-authors post in August, I find myself in the market for a new camera. I only have a few requirements and I think my mates Chris and Tim have hit the mark with their recommendations, the Olympus E-400 and the Canon 350D. However, the price does not agree with the bank balance.

So I now put to you the following challenge, find a Digital SLR Camera with similar features to the aformentioned camera’s but as cheap as chips. Also, do you think it’s worth trading in my current camera or flogging it on ebay ?

Refresh

If the words “ref.outcontrol” appear above the header and the menu options appear rather large when you load the site in your browser, please refresh (F5) your page to correct it.  This will only appear for a short time while some back-end changes are made.

cheers Ant….

Camera Woes

Help!

I’m in the market for a new Camera as my trusty Pentax Optio S has served me well but she is getting old now and not as responsive as she used to be. But I’m flooded with choice and confusion does anyone have any tips, advice, suggestions on choosing a fantastic camera? Please leave a comment if you do.

If your up for the challenge this is my wish list but I don’t think the camera exists

Digital SLR Camera - But not too massive

Must do high quality movies

Nice big zoom (x12)

Ability to change lens (for extra zoom for example)

Not AA batteries, dedicated rechargeable battery

Good response times when hitting the shutter over and over

SD card compatible if possible (I already have 3 cards)

Something I can whip out and take a shot without playing around with settings for 5 mins

Nice Macro setting please for those close ups

Manual focus and zoom

Good range of ISO’s

At least 2 Inch LCD

I have also done some research and found these cameras below that look quite good.

PowerShot S3 IS

Panasonic FZ50
